Gary Neville has thrown some intriguing thoughts into the conversation regarding Arsenal's signing of Ezri Konsa, revealing his confusion over the need for this transfer. The ex-Manchester United defender suggested that the acquisition of yet another versatile player in defence could point to an imminent exit for one of the current squad.
Konsa has made the switch to Arsenal from Aston Villa. The 28-year-old Englishman can operate both in the centre of defence and on the right flank. However, it’s Konsa’s versatility that has sparked Neville’s curiosity about the Gunners’ future plans.

I understand why they’ve signed Konsa in terms of his quality. But they already have Ben White, who can play on the right and in the centre, Jurriën Timber, who can fulfil similar roles, and Christian Mosquera.
So, I’m just wondering: why do they need another player of that profile? Perhaps someone is set to leave.
In essence, Neville isn’t questioning Konsa’s quality but rather the number of players with similar attributes at Mikel Arteta's disposal.
