Tottenham have officially sidelined 29-year-old forward Richarlison. According to Fabrizio Romano, the player’s relationship with the club has deteriorated following failed transfers, making a January exit inevitable.

Tottenham have officially ruled out any future plans for forward Richarlison. The relationship between the club and one of their most expensive signings has completely deteriorated, with a split expected in the upcoming transfer window, according to trusted insider Fabrizio Romano.

Prior to record spending on players like Savinho, Sandro Tonali, and Matheus Fernandes, each costing over £80 million, Spurs typically operated in the market for sums between £50 million and £65 million. This price bracket included the likes of Javi Simons, Mohammed Kudus, Dominic Solanke, and Richarlison, who joined from Everton in 2022 for £50 million plus £10 million in bonuses.

The situation surrounding the Brazilian has intensified over the summer. The 29-year-old forward had repeatedly communicated his desire to leave to manager Roberto De Zerbi, but the move did not materialise, and following the closure of the transfer window, Richarlison found himself out of the squad.

Fabrizio Romano shed light on the failed transfers:

The situation with Richarlison is indeed crazy. Roberto De Zerbi spoke the plain truth: at the start of the season, he approached Richarlison saying, 'Let's discuss a new contract, you’re needed here.' But Richarlison was resolute about wanting to leave. In the final days of the transfer window, Tottenham’s hierarchy were extremely unhappy that the player refused a return to Everton. These deals were interconnected: Spurs were set to sign Iliman Ndiaye, while Richarlison would have moved to the Toffees. The Brazilian had every right to make his personal decision, deemed that option unsuitable, and the transfer fell through. A proposal from Trabzonspor in Turkey came next: the player agreed, but Spurs turned it down. There were also calls from Vasco da Gama, but again no agreement was reached.

According to the insider, there’s no way back into the squad for the forward:

The club no longer plans to integrate Richarlison into their project. They consider him to be a forgotten man, and the relationship is officially severed. I’m convinced we will see the Brazilian leave the team in January.

With the 29-year-old in the final year of his contract, the winter window represents Tottenham’s last chance to secure any kind of compensation. However, with just six months until he reaches free agency, the north London outfit shouldn’t expect a significant fee.
