15-Second Brief
Emiliano Martinez has advised his former club to consider River Plate goalkeeper Santiago Beltran. Aston Villa are already interested in the 22-year-old Argentine, who is aiming for a move to Europe. Negotiations could start at around €15 million.

Emiliano Martinez has recommended that Aston Villa pay attention to River Plate's Santiago Beltran. The 22-year-old Argentine is planning a move to Europe and may switch clubs as early as January.

Martinez, who has been with Villa since 2020, made a summer transfer to Chelsea. Before his departure, the Birmingham club secured Zion Suzuki from Parma, who has since become Unai Emery's first-choice keeper.

Yet, Aston Villa continue to look for options between the sticks. The club had previously contacted Beltran’s representatives in September, and River Plate, according to reports, is ready to begin negotiations at around €15 million.

Journalist Ramiro Solveira commented:

I believe Beltran will leave at the end of the year. When he changed agents, his plan was to move to Europe.

According to him, the young goalkeeper's decision has also been influenced by Martinez.

He has been influenced by Dibu Martinez, who recommended him to Aston Villa. Atletico and Inter have also shown interest.

Beltran made his debut for River Plate’s first team this year. In 39 appearances, he conceded 34 goals while keeping a clean sheet 15 times. His contract runs until December 2027.

Currently, Emery has Suzuki, the 35-year-old Marco Bizot, and young James Wright at his disposal. With Bizot's contract ending at the season's close, Beltran could emerge as a long-term competitor for Suzuki.
