15-Second Brief
Atletico's Julian Alvarez is ready to agree to a move to London club Arsenal in January, no longer prioritising a transfer to Barcelona, which may shift focus to Erling Haaland.

During the summer, Julian Alvarez sought to leave Atletico Madrid. His top priority was a transfer to Barcelona, but the Madrid club refused to strengthen a direct rival.

Alvarez's troubles have continued into the new season. He's struggled to secure a starting spot under Diego Simeone and has faced some animosity from sections of Atletico's fanbase.

According to TEAMtalk, Alvarez has changed his mind and is now seriously weighing up a move to London club Arsenal. The Gunners are poised to make a fresh attempt to sign the 26-year-old forward when the January transfer window opens.

In the summer, Arsenal were prepared to splash over £100 million to secure the player, with discussions around potential player exchanges. They contemplated including Viktor Djerkesh, Ethan Nwaneri, or Noni Madueke in the deal. It’s expected that Arsenal will again offer either Djerkesh or Madueke as part of their bid for Alvarez.

Barcelona’s interest in the forward remains, but the Catalan side may pivot towards signing Erling Haaland from Manchester City. This turn of events positions Arsenal as the most likely destination for Alvarez. Meanwhile, PSG and Bayern Munich are monitoring the situation but have no plans to submit offers in January.
