Crystal Palace forward Jean-Philippe Mateta is fiercely determined to return to the French national team, having been overlooked by new manager Zinedine Zidane.
Mateta was part of Didier Deschamps' squad during the summer World Cup, but has found himself sidelined as Zidane assembles his team in the ongoing international break.
I know it’s not the end. I will do everything possible to earn my place back. Playing under Zidane? That would be a dream. He is one of the greatest players in the history of the French team.
The forward confessed that being managed by Zidane would be equally special as his experiences under Deschamps.
It would be a dream, just like it was a dream to play under Deschamps. I’ll do everything I can to secure a call-up in November.
Currently, Mateta’s main aim is to regain his optimal form and return to the national team ahead of the next international fixture window.
