15-Second Brief
Manchester City continues with their transfer planning for 2027 despite the looming threat of serious sanctions. One of the club's main targets is Michael Kaio from Brentford, who is also attracting interest from other top Premier League sides.

Manchester City aren't letting potential sanctions stall their transfer strategy. The club has already started eyeing targets for 2027, and Brentford's right-back Michael Kaio is high on their list.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the club's future, City are maintaining their usual approach and continuing to prepare for squad enhancements.

According to TEAMtalk, Kaio is on the radar of several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United.

Enzo Mareska is keen on bolstering the right side of defence and sees Kaio as a perfect fit for City's style and age profile.

This past summer, Manchester City considered a move for Malo Gusto, but a deal never materialised.

However, Brentford aren't looking to part ways with Kaio. The defender signed a new long-term contract earlier this year and is reportedly content with his situation, showing no desire to leave.

Kaio made the switch to Brentford from Fiorentina in 2025 for €17.5 million after a successful loan spell. He missed just one Premier League match last season and remains a regular starter this campaign.

Last month, the defender also made his debut for the Italy national team, marking the occasion with a goal against Turkey.

If Brentford do agree to sell, the fee is expected to be hefty. Kaio's estimated value stands at €62.7 million, and with six years left on his contract, the club could demand significantly higher.

The situation is further complicated by the ongoing legal issues facing Manchester City. Should the club face severe penalties, including transfer bans or relegation, executing such a deal could become impossible.
