Manchester City's head coach Enzo Maresca has chosen to stay put during the current international break. Unlike his predecessor Pep Guardiola, the Italian has opted to remain at home with his family and focus on work.
The City players not called up for international duty have been granted a rare opportunity to catch their breath. Phil Foden, Rico Lewis, and Matheus Nunes, who was left out of Portugal's squad, along with injured Jeremy Doku, have all stayed back at the club. In line with club tradition, the players can enjoy their time off as they see fit, as long as they return in peak physical condition.
Jeremy Doku intends to dedicate part of his mini-break to individual rehabilitation at the club’s academy.
Enzo Maresca will resume training with the remaining players next week. The full squad is set to reconvene in Manchester on Thursday ahead of their crucial away trip to Anfield to face Liverpool on Sunday.
