Conor Gallagher is yet to make an impact at Tottenham after his high-profile transfer. The Londoners shelled out 40 million euros for the midfielder last winter.
In an attempt to snatch him from Aston Villa, they even broke their wage structure.
However, it seems that the Birmingham side may have landed an even trickier situation. This summer, Aston Villa secured the services of former Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretska on a free transfer.
Goretska's signing bonus amounted to £10 million, alongside a hefty salary of £7.8 million per season.
According to insider Fabrizio Romano, the 31-year-old Goretska has already suffered a new knee injury, ruling him out of action until at least October.
“My body reacted to the increased workload after my absence from the pitch. It’s frustrating, but I need this short break to come back stronger,” said Goretska.
Tottenham previously had an interest in Goretska but backed off due to his injury record and high demands. Unlike the German, Gallagher is fit and featuring regularly, albeit not quite meeting the high expectations that come with his price tag.
