Former Manchester United player Antonio Valencia has urged the club to sign Moises Caicedo from Chelsea. However, insider Fabrizio Romano reveals that the Ecuadorian wishes to remain at Stamford Bridge and become a legend for the London club.

Former Manchester United defender Antonio Valencia has made a strong case for his old club to secure the services of Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo.

This past summer, Chelsea, now under the stewardship of Xabi Alonso, went through a significant squad overhaul, with players like Andre Santos making headlines after a £50 million transfer to Old Trafford.

However, that switch hasn't gone down particularly well, with pundits such as Jamie Redknapp and Steven Gerrard criticising the Brazilian's performances thus far.

Despite this rocky start, Valencia insists that Michael Carrick's side would benefit greatly from the addition of Caicedo.

I would sign another midfielder. I would look to bring in someone like Moises Caicedo, especially to support my fellow countrymen (laughs). And then I would definitely go for a centre-back and a right or left wing-back.

Yet, it seems unlikely Chelsea are ready to part ways with the Ecuadorian international, who recently signed a contract extension. Insider Fabrizio Romano reported that Caicedo is keen on making his mark at Stamford Bridge.

Caicedo has stated that he is a Chelsea player and he has a contract; he wants to become a legend at Chelsea.

Caicedo is in a strong position; it isn't a matter of Real Madrid. He has a huge desire to be part of the Chelsea project. He feels the love from the Chelsea supporters and the club. It's a very strong connection.

He believes in this project. He could have moved to Liverpool when he joined Chelsea, but he feels he has much to achieve and win with Chelsea, and he wants to become a Blues legend.
