Right-back Pedro Porro of Tottenham is weighing up a move away from the English club to return to Spain. According to Spanish outlet SPORT, Barcelona is interested in the player and is keeping tabs on the situation.
The 27-year-old Spaniard enjoyed a successful World Cup campaign over the summer, but his club season has started far more challenging. Porro has featured in just four of Tottenham's eight matches, with the club currently sitting at the bottom of the Premier League table with a meagre three points.
Barcelona are monitoring the situation
As per SPORT, Porro is keen on a return to his homeland in the near future. The Catalan club sees him as a potential option to boost their right defensive flank.
However, Tottenham hold a strong negotiating position: the player signed a new contract over the summer, which is valid until 2031. Consequently, any prospective transfer would need to be agreed upon with the London club.
As things stand, there is only interest and reports of the player's desire to switch leagues. There has been no confirmed deal or official offer from Barcelona yet.
What happens next?
Porro's situation could ignite discussions in upcoming transfer windows. Much will hinge on the player's own stance, Tottenham’s plans, and Barcelona's financial clout.
Despite his recent contract extension, a return to La Liga for the Spaniard cannot be ruled out; however, it is premature to suggest that a transition is imminent.
