Getafe has made an official offer to Jadon Sancho and is in negotiations to bring the English winger in as a free agent. The club from Madrid is looking to add another notable player after recently signing Dani Carvajal.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the proposal is currently under review by Sancho and his representatives. Talks are ongoing, but a final decision has not yet been reached.
Getafe aims to replicate Greenwood's success
The club's hierarchy believes that Sancho could reignite his career in La Liga, following the example set by Mason Greenwood. The English forward had a successful loan spell at Getafe during the 2023/24 season, showcasing his talents before continuing his career in Spain.
Sancho could significantly boost Jose Bordalas' attacking line with his pace, dribbling skills, and ability to take on opponents. The head coach is keen on strengthening the flanks, and securing a player with experience from top European clubs would be a substantial addition for the team.
Carvajal – a model for the new transfer
Recently, Getafe attracted attention by signing Dani Carvajal after his contract with Real Madrid ended. Now, the club is looking to capitalise on a similar opportunity in the free agent market and negotiate a deal with Sancho without having to pay a transfer fee.
However, the absence of a transfer fee doesn’t guarantee an easy deal. La Liga's financial constraints and the player's salary expectations remain significant hurdles. Both parties will need to find terms that satisfy both Sancho and the club.
Sancho has alternatives
Reports suggest that interest in the 26-year-old winger is also coming from representatives in Middle Eastern football. As such, Getafe will need to persuade the Englishman to choose their Spanish project over others.
Sancho found himself without a club after his contract with Manchester United expired in the summer of 2026. In the previous season, he spent time on loan at Aston Villa, having previously played for Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea.
