Manchester United are keen on 21-year-old River Plate goalkeeper Santiago Beltran.
According to ESPN Argentina journalist Gustavo Yarroch, the English club is already making inquiries about the Argentine keeper:
Two clubs are currently interested in him. One is Italian, the other is English. It’s Inter and Manchester United.
River Plate are in discussions with Beltran about extending his contract, which currently runs until December 2027. The parties are close to a new agreement, but that does not necessarily mean the goalkeeper will stay in Argentina for long.
The source indicates that River Plate are seriously contemplating a sale of Beltran to Europe in the near future. A new contract would allow the club to improve the player's terms and increase the buyout clause ahead of a potential transfer. Reports from Argentina have suggested that the goalkeeper could leave as soon as January.
This summer, United were already on the lookout for a young goalkeeper and attempted to sign Orlando Hilo from San Lorenzo, only for the Paraguayan to end up moving to Lille.
Beltran has also caught the eye of Manchester City and Aston Villa in the past. In just a few months, the young keeper has established himself at River Plate, earned a call-up to the Argentina national team, and attracted attention from several European clubs.
