Liverpool are set to make a decision regarding the permanent signing of Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo in early 2027.
Following the summer departure of Ibrahima Konate and injuries to Conor Bradley, manager Andoni Iraola has been on the lookout for a versatile defender. The situation was made all the more challenging by the injuries and inexperience of Jeremy Jaque and Giovanni Leoni. As a result, the Reds secured Araujo on a season-long loan from the Catalan club for the 2026/27 campaign.
Despite initial concerns regarding his adaptation, Araujo has made a significant impact, featuring in all five of Liverpool's opening matches and starting the last three games in a right-back role.
Insider Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the existence of a non-mandatory buy option set at €55 million. According to his reports, the transfer should not be problematic if the Premier League side opts to trigger this clause.
