Milan have no plans to pay around €50 million for a permanent transfer of Omari Hutchinson from Nottingham Forest. According to Calciomercato, only an outstanding season for the 22-year-old winger could change the Italian club’s stance.
This summer, Milan paid €4 million to secure Hutchinson on loan until the end of the season. The agreement includes an option to buy for approximately €50 million, but the club did not initially view this figure as a likely scenario.
It’s too early to judge the young Englishman’s performances. He made a decent impact off the bench against Lazio, but fared much worse in the starting XI during the Europa League clash with Benfica. So far, Hutchinson has not convinced manager Ruben Amorim that he deserves a regular spot in the team.
Last season at Nottingham Forest was also challenging for the winger. After joining from Ipswich for €43.4 million, he scored just one goal and provided eight assists in 42 appearances.
In comparison, during his time at Ipswich, Hutchinson managed 14 goals and eight assists over 82 games. His loan to Milan was expected to help him regain his form, but the first few weeks in Italy have not shown any improvement.
If Hutchinson fails to step up throughout the season, it is likely he will return to Nottingham Forest next summer.
