Manchester United are keen to bolster their left flank before the transfer window closes, but the club is not looking to sign a player simply to fill the position. According to Sky Sports journalist Dan Han, should the right option not materialise, United are ready to wait until next summer.
During this transfer window, the primary targets for the club have been Lewis Hall from Newcastle and Myles Lewis-Skelly from Arsenal.
Dan Han elaborated:
Lewis Hall was a player Manchester United had discussions about with Newcastle. However, as we heard from Matthias Jaissle, he is definitely not for sale. United will continue to monitor him.
Manchester United find themselves at a crossroads. Yes, they need a left-back. But should they sign a stopgap solution or wait a full 12 months to land the player they truly desire?
I get the sense that they are willing to bide their time for the right player rather than rush into signing anyone just to fill the position.
This measured approach has already been demonstrated by United in their midfield rebuild: instead of opting for a temporary fix, the club waited for the next transfer window, signing Andre Santos and Youri Tielemans, and they are now close to finalising a deal for Carlos Baleba.
