Defender Josko Gvardiol believes in Enzo Maresca's success at Manchester City. The Croatian described the Italian as the ideal specialist who will lead the club into a new era after Pep Guardiola's departure.
In an interview with Manchester Evening News, the player acknowledged that replacing such a manager will not be easy. However, he is confident that Maresca will keep the team at the highest level.
“The level is so high, and Enzo was chosen as the manager for a reason,” Gvardiol stated.
“I think he has class, he has some new ideas, and we also need to see what we will do with our style of play, what football we will play, and what the tactics will be.”
“I think he is the perfect option, but of course, it will take time. It’s something completely new, and changing managers is not easy, so we will need time,” the defender noted.
Gvardiol added that the players also share the responsibility for results and must help the Italian coach.
“Our job is to help him as much as possible, as well as to listen and try to adapt as quickly as we can,” the Croatian concluded.
