Rangers legend Ally McCoist has expressed his eagerness to welcome 16-year-old Arsenal winger Max Downing on loan at Ibrox.
“I’d take him, a hundred percent. I wouldn’t be against a loan if Mikel Arteta thinks it’s the best decision for his development,” said McCoist.
The discussion was sparked by Downing’s impressive performance against Ipswich, where the young talent netted a brace.
Mikel Arteta has previously hinted at the possibility of loaning Downing in the future, noting that much depends on the club’s needs, the coaching staff, and the environment in which the player would thrive. Currently, though, the Gunners’ boss believes Downing is in a good place at Arsenal and should continue his development in North London.
Interest in the 16-year-old's loan has also been linked to Luton Town.
