Aston Villa midfielder Emiliano Buendia reflected on the team's hard-fought 3-2 victory over Tottenham in their fifth Premier League fixture.

After a rocky start to the season, the Argentine underlined the team’s character and their ability to turn the game around.

'We wanted this win from the very start. It’s been a tough beginning to the season — we weren't able to showcase our best football. But we kept working hard.

Today, I think we really showed great character. They started the match very strong, but we found a goal just before half-time.'

Discussing his goal in the 79th minute, Buendia explained his decision to shoot when he spotted teammates making runs into the box:

'I thought it was the right moment to shoot when I saw everyone charging into the box. I tried to give myself space at the edge of the area and not overthink it. Thankfully, it turned out to be a great goal.'

Buendia scored Villa's third goal of the match, putting them 3-0 up. Although Tottenham responded with goals from Conor Gallagher and Jan-Paul van Hecke, they ran out of time to level the score.
