Rio Ngumoah became the face of the Future Stars cards in FC 27 and, in a quickfire interview, talked about his friendship with Ekitike, noisy roommate Kerkes, and praise from Lionel Messi.

Young winger Rio Ngumoah has made a dazzling start to the 2026/27 season with Liverpool, recently marking his debut for the England national team during the recent international break. The 18-year-old talent's growing recognition has reached new heights, as EA developers selected him as the face of the new promotional campaign for the Future Stars cards in the FC 27 football simulator.

As part of the announcement, Ngumoah took part in a quickfire interview with media platform Versus, answering six rapid-fire questions and sharing intriguing insights into life inside the club at Anfield.

The winger expressed his excitement at being featured in the Future Stars series:

This means a lot to me. When these cards came out before, I would buy in-game points to try and pull them from packs. So yeah, it's genuinely really important.

When asked about his closest bond among former rising stars and current Liverpool teammates, he instantly singled out Hugo Ekitike:

Hugo Ekitike, for sure. He’s like an older brother to me.

Ngumoah also shared his favourite goal celebration:

Probably the scuba diving celebration. I joked with the lads before a match that if I score, I’d celebrate like that. Ever since, it’s become my favourite.

He even jested about his worst roommate on away trips, naming Milos Kerkes:

The worst would definitely be Milos Kerkes. He’s just incredibly noisy. Funny, yes, but definitely the loudest.

Speaking about style and appearance, Rio highlighted a direct link between looking good and performing well on the pitch:

I think it’s very important. My hair’s a bit messy right now, but I firmly believe that if you look great, you play great. I really do feel that way.

To round it off, he reminisced about his response upon being named in Lionel Messi's personal list of the ten best young players in the world:

I remember that moment clearly; I was with the England squad at the time. At first, I didn’t even notice the news, but then I saw it and thought, ‘Wow, Messi chose me’. Also, the gift of headphones from him was pretty cool, so I can’t complain.
