Chelsea's wing-back Pep Chavarri has opened up about his rapid transition to English football, describing his first weeks at Stamford Bridge as a fairy tale.
In an interview with the club's official website, the 28-year-old Spanish player shared insights on his challenging journey from the lower divisions in Spain to a top club in the Premier League:
Joining this incredible club and receiving such a warm welcome from my teammates is truly special. Playing alongside such high-level players is a total pleasure, as being around the best inevitably helps you grow,
the defender stated.
Chavarri also highlighted the crucial role of midfielder Moises Caicedo in helping him settle off the pitch, while praising the tactical ideas of manager Xabi Alonso:
Xabi is one of the best coaches in the world right now. I am learning so much new, and I really understand that he wants to help me,
he added.
To recap, Chavarri spent last season in La Liga, making 33 appearances for Rayo Vallecano before sealing his move to West London over the summer. He has already featured five times for the Blues in the current Premier League campaign.
