Sky Sports journalist Melissa Reddy has unveiled the true reasons behind Mohamed Salah's departure from Liverpool during a recent appearance on The Redmen TV. Drawing from her own sources and details for her upcoming book on the Egyptian forward, she denied the popular notion that the key factor was a conflict with former manager Arne Slot.
According to Reddy, Salah would have left the club regardless, even if the hierarchy had made a decision on the manager’s future sooner. In a telling interview after the match against Leeds United, the Egyptian deliberately stated, "some people want me out of the club," aimed at sporting director Richard Hughes and former CEO Michael Edwards rather than the coaching staff. It was the club's upper management that mapped out a long-term plan to gradually replace the high-earning legend with expensive new signings, hoping to retain Salah as a backup in case of injuries to other strikers and sell him in January should any interest come from Saudi Arabia.
The internal tension at Liverpool was palpable as they sought to integrate high-cost acquisitions into the first team, while also managing Salah’s demands for status and playing time.
