Former England forward Emil Heskey has advised Manchester United to buy Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea as a replacement for Casemiro. In his opinion, this £120 million transfer would make Michael Carrick's team a title contender.

The signing of Enzo Fernandez from London club Chelsea would make Manchester United a genuine title contender. This was stated by former England international Emil Heskey.

Under Michael Carrick, United are steadily moving forward. Last season, the coach led the Mancunians to a third-place finish in the league table.

This summer, the club revamped their attack, signing Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha, and Bryan Mbeumo. Now, the board is looking to strengthen the midfield.

Andrei Santos and Youri Tielemans have already joined the team. The club is also monitoring Carlos Baleba from Brighton and Manu Kone from Roma.

However, Emil Heskey believes the Mancunians should take a different route and sign Enzo Fernandez.

“Midfield is definitely an area where Manchester United can improve, and Enzo Fernandez would help,” he told Metro.

“Since Casemiro left at the beginning of the summer, they need to replace that presence. He had a very good end to the season, and they will miss him.”

“I think Enzo Fernandez could be the one to come in and replace him. If they manage to get him, I see them as contenders for the title.”

“Manchester United have always had players, but the systems that previous managers played haven't always suited them.”

“If they get everything right with the system, there’s no reason they shouldn’t challenge Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool for the title,” the ex-striker concluded.

Chelsea value the Argentine at £120 million.

The player is also of significant interest to Manchester City, who are considering him as a replacement for Rodri.

Fernandez himself dreams of playing for Real Madrid. However, Jose Mourinho's side is currently focused on negotiations regarding Rodri.
