15-Second Brief
Barcelona missed out on Joao Pedro for €80 million, opting instead for Anthony Gordon. The forward has now extended his contract with Chelsea until 2033.
Barcelona had a genuine opportunity to acquire Chelsea forward Joao Pedro in June. The Brazilian striker was very keen on a move to the Spanish giants, and Chelsea were willing to sell for around €80 million plus add-ons.
However, the hierarchy at Barcelona decided to shift their focus to other priorities in the transfer market, zeroing in on securing the signing of Anthony Gordon and also looking at the potential of Julian Alvarez.
This change in strategy has allowed Joao Pedro to finalise a new long-term deal with Chelsea, extending his stay until 2033. This decision effectively closes the door on any potential transfer to the Catalan club.
