Arsenal are in negotiations with Galatasaray regarding a potential move for striker Victor Osimhen. This information comes from The Telegraph.
Osimhen's name came up during discussions between the clubs surrounding the transfers of Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri. The Turkish side reportedly offered €45 million for the Brazilian, but Martinelli has turned down the chance to make the switch. Meanwhile, Galatasaray is on the verge of securing 19-year-old Nwaneri for around €40 million.
The Nigerian forward has been instrumental for Galatasaray, helping them secure back-to-back championships with an impressive tally of 59 goals in 74 appearances since his move last summer, which cost the Turkish club €75 million.
Initially, Arsenal had set their sights on Julian Alvarez as their key target, but Atletico Madrid have flatly refused to part with the player and recently turned down a €100 million bid from Barcelona.
Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel, who has been involved in conversations about Osimhen's potential move in 2024, shared his thoughts on the forward's aspirations.
"I think we want to see him in the Champions League, so perhaps Arsenal could be a destination. Maybe there’s a door open for Victor," Mikel said.
"I've had a few conversations with him. I won’t go into detail about what we discussed, but he is working hard to end up in one of the best European leagues where he can showcase his talent and compete for the Champions League title," the former player added.
