Manchester United and Arsenal are closely monitoring right-back Alberto Costa from Porto. The 22-year-old Portuguese player has quickly established himself at the club and is already attracting interest from several European teams.
According to CaughtOffside, both Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have also shown an interest in Costa. However, none of the interested clubs have made an official bid yet, as they are still in the observation and analysis phase concerning the player.
Rapid rise at Porto
Costa made the switch to Porto from Juventus in the summer of 2025 for €15 million, with an additional potential €1 million in bonuses.
His debut season in Portugal was eventful; he featured in 47 matches and contributed with eight assists.
According to A Bola, Costa became the fifth most used player for Porto in the 2025/26 season, highlighting his swift rise to becoming one of the team's key figures.
At the start of the 2026/27 season, Costa continues to hold an important role. As per FBref, he started in five of Porto's first six matches in the league and Champions League, including playing the full match against Manchester City.
Porto controls the situation
The main obstacle for a potential transfer is Costa's contract.
The defender is tied to Porto until June 2030, and his contract includes a buyout clause of €65 million.
Additionally, Juventus retains a 10% cut of any future sale of the player.
Thus, Porto has no urgent need to sell Costa, and interested clubs will either need to activate the clause or negotiate with the Portuguese side.
