Former Manchester City midfielder Rodri has revealed the level of interest Real Madrid expressed in signing him.
The Spaniard shared that the Spanish club made significant efforts to land him, including holding direct talks regarding a potential transfer.
"They did everything they could to make it happen"
Rodri confirmed that Real Madrid was genuinely keen on him.
"Real Madrid really made a significant push. They wanted to sign me, we had direct negotiations, and they did everything they could to make it happen," he said.
He further admitted that the interest from the Spanish club made his decision all the more difficult.
"They complicated my decision. I am grateful to them," he added.
Did he speak with Florentino Perez?
During an interview with COPE, Rodri was asked if he had communicated directly with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.
The player chose to keep the details under wraps:
"I’m not going to say that," he replied.
Thus, while Rodri confirmed there was direct contact with Real Madrid, he refrained from clarifying whether there was a personal conversation with Perez.
