Tottenham's head coach Roberto De Zerbi has summarised the pre-season tour. The Londoners played three matches in New Zealand and Australia, remaining unbeaten.
The team defeated Auckland (2-0), won against Sydney on penalties, and secured a victory over Chelsea (2-1). In the match against the Blues, defender Kevin Danzo received a red card early in the second half.
“I am pleased with many things. First of all, because we spent a very important 10 days together. We worked very well,” he said.
“I am happy to work with these players. I look forward to working with the others who are in London - Bentancur, Papa Matar Sarr, Senesi, Kudus.”
The coach highlighted the new signings. Sandro Tonali, Andy Robertson, Marco Palestra, and Lukas Bergvall performed excellently.
“I am so happy for the young players because Malachi, Rio, Tai, Kota were very important for us during this period, very good players.”
The manager particularly appreciated how the team maintained composure and played with a man down against Chelsea.
“It is important to change habits because our habits in the last two seasons have not been very good in terms of results,” he said.
“For us, it is important to win matches, win duels, win second balls and perform well in each position on the pitch. But yes, it has been a very good 10 days.”
The Londoners have two friendly matches ahead against German club Hoffenheim. The team opens their Premier League campaign on 22 August with a match against Brentford.
