Chelsea forward Liam Delap may soon be on his way out before the summer transfer window closes. After a tough last season, the 21-year-old has fallen behind Joao Pedro in the pecking order, prompting Chelsea to consider his exit.
Delap made the switch to Chelsea from Ipswich in the summer of 2025 for £30 million. He found the net 12 times in his first full Premier League season, but has struggled to replicate that form at Stamford Bridge.
During the 2025/26 season, he managed to score just once. Joao Pedro has been appointed as the main central striker under the management of Xabi Alonso, taking on the coveted number nine shirt.
Reports suggest that Chelsea are open to selling Delap for around £40 million, with interest coming from both Everton and Nottingham Forest, who are keen to bolster their attacking options. However, neither club has made an official bid yet.
Another possibility is a return to Ipswich, as The Independent notes that the club is exploring the option of signing Delap on loan for the entire season.
This arrangement would allow him to return to familiar surroundings, where he previously thrived in the Premier League. However, it remains to be seen if Chelsea would be willing to sanction a loan rather than a permanent sale.
