Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler has reflected on his side's emphatic 4-0 win against Aston Villa and expressed his delight at a strong start to the new season.
The Seagulls' manager revealed that the standout aspect of the match for him was the solid defensive performance:
"What pleased me the most? A clean sheet!"
Hurzeler noted that his side faced some difficulties at the beginning but eventually regained control of the match:
"In the opening minutes, we struggled a bit. But we gradually took control of the game. We scored some beautiful goals. The first one came with a bit of luck. But the goals we scored were fantastic and contributed to our intensity. The red card changed everything, but all our goals came while it was 11 versus 11."
He also praised his players' performance in the second half, emphasising the significance of starting the tournament with a win:
"We did quite well in the second half. We kept possession, controlled the game, and didn’t give the ball away too easily, creating several chances. It was a mature performance. It’s always nice to win matches. But this is just one game. A good start. Now we face another serious test on Thursday."
