Sunderland are close to extending the contract of centre-back Jenson Silt. According to Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph, negotiations are underway for an agreement that could keep him at the club until the summer of 2030.
However, this new contract doesn’t necessarily mean Silt will remain with Sunderland for the current season. The 23-year-old Dutch defender is expected to be sent out on loan again, with multiple Serie A clubs already showing interest.
Last season, Silt was on loan at Wolfsburg, where the German club was poised to activate an option to buy him for £12.8 million. However, their plans changed following their relegation from the Bundesliga.
Now, Sunderland aim to secure Silt’s future with a long-term contract before exploring another loan opportunity for him.
