Hull City manager Sergiy Yakirovich was deeply dissatisfied with his team's performance in the match against Fulham. The encounter in the seventh round of the Premier League ended with the Tigers losing 0-1.
The only goal came in the 33rd minute, scored by Alex Iwobi following a pass from Sander Berge. According to Yakirovich, the final score did not reflect Fulham's dominance on the pitch.
“We were second best in every aspect”
In an interview with BBC Match of the Day, Yakirovich revealed his frustration with his players' performance.
“This game is easy to analyse: we were worse in everything. Fulham excelled us in all aspects – both with and without the ball. They were winning second balls and challenges. It was a game of men against boys. We showed nothing today, but it’s too late to change anything,” said Yakirovich.
The manager admitted that Fulham deserved more in previous matches and anticipated a tough challenge ahead of the fixture.
“Fulham have been playing well lately and perhaps deserved more points. We knew it would be tough today, but in the end, we completely failed to match our opponents,” he noted.
Yakirovich explains the reasons for the defeat
According to the manager, Hull City lacked aggression and the quality of decision-making in the attacking zone.
“It’s very disappointing. We may have had some moments near the box, but we made the wrong decisions. The opponent was far more aggressive and could have scored more,” added Yakirovich.
Robinio Vaz suffers Achilles injury
Separately, Yakirovich spoke about the condition of Robinio Vaz, who suffered a blow to his Achilles area.
“He took a hit to his Achilles. The situation is very bad. He will need to undergo tests to determine the extent of the injury,” Yakirovich informed.
