Bayern Munich's president Herbert Hainer has firmly dismissed the possibility of signing Liverpool midfielder Florian Wirtz. He expressed that the club is fully satisfied with their current squad, even as the German midfielder struggles to adjust to the Premier League.
The 23-year-old's contract with the Merseysiders runs until 2032, but his rocky start in the top tier has sparked speculation about a potential return to the Bundesliga.
Hainer praised Wirtz's individual talent, extending heartfelt sympathy for the German international, who has yet to reach the heights he showcased during his time at Bayer Leverkusen.
Speaking from Munich, Bayern's president stated:
First and foremost, I believe Florian Wirtz is an outstanding footballer; there is absolutely no doubt about that. I feel a bit sorry for him, as he hasn’t yet found the form he showed at Leverkusen in England, which he is very much needed for both us and the national team.
However, our squad is of such high calibre that we are incredibly happy at the moment. So right now, this issue isn’t on our agenda at all.
Bayern had shown strong interest in Wirtz before his move to England, but as it stands, neither the Munich club nor Liverpool have been in discussions over a potential transfer. The player himself remains publicly silent on the matter, showing no intent to leave Anfield.
Hainer shifted his focus to Bayern's upcoming challenges, expressing confidence in the strength of Vincent Kompany's side in both the Bundesliga and Champions League:
The opportunity to compete with the best in both the league and on the European stage is a primary goal for any footballer. This applies fully to our players too. I've spoken with many of them, and they all are determined to make their mark. That gives me hope and solid confidence.
