Chelsea could be set to continue their productive relationship with Strasbourg by signing another player from the French club. This time, it's 20-year-old winger Jessim Yassine, who former Chelsea goalkeeping coach Christophe Lollichon has hinted is 'practically already at Stamford Bridge'.
Yassine made the switch to Strasbourg from Dunkirk in January and has rapidly carved out a more prominent role within the team.
In August, he scored twice against Lens, marking his first goals for the club, and followed that up with an assist against Troyes.
Despite his young age, Yassine has already garnered nine caps for the Moroccan national team.
Lollichon, who spent many years at Chelsea and is now based in Dunkirk, made a surprising statement suggesting that the winger's next career step is almost certain.
He stated:
We are very dedicated to working with young talents and striving to give them the opportunity to shine.
Right now, Jessim Yassine plays for Strasbourg, but he is practically already at Chelsea.
While there isn't any official information on an agreement between the clubs yet, Lollichon's words should be viewed as an indication of a potential transfer rather than a confirmed deal.
This transfer fits seamlessly into the usual model employed by BlueCo.
Since acquiring Strasbourg in 2023, players have been regularly moving between the French side and Chelsea.
Just this past summer, a number of deals took place, with Valentino Barko and Emanuel Emega heading to London, while Chelsea also signed Mamadou Sarr previously.
In total, these three players have reportedly cost around €79 million, though none have yet made a significant impact on the first team.
Nonetheless, it seems BlueCo is not looking to change their approach.
Yassine could well be the next young player to hone his skills in France before getting his chance at Chelsea.
