Sam Allardyce has changed his prediction for the Premier League winner after the opening weekend. Before the season kicked off, the former England manager had tipped Manchester City, but now he thinks Arsenal will defend their title.
Allardyce shared his thoughts on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast:
There's no guarantee that Arsenal will win the Premier League, but I don't see anyone posing a serious threat to them this season.
Initially, I said Manchester City would be champions, but I've reconsidered. They've gone through a significant managerial change, and the team will have to adapt to that.
Now, I believe Arsenal will win the league.
This summer has seen major changes at City: Pep Guardiola has departed, along with several experienced players. It's this extensive overhaul that has prompted Allardyce to rethink his original prediction.
