Everton are looking to leverage their good relationship with Preston to arrange a loan for 19-year-old midfielder Harvey Foster, similar to the development of Harrison Armstrong.
According to Football Insider, citing former Everton scout Brian King, the Merseysiders are keen to send Foster to Preston in January. The club hopes that the opportunity for regular Championship football will persuade the young player to extend his contract, which expires next summer.
Foster is regarded as one of the promising talents from Everton's academy. He caught the attention of the coaching staff over the summer, but competition for places in midfield has hindered his breakthrough into the first-team squad.
The case of Armstrong provides grounds for the club to consider Preston a suitable destination for Foster's next development phase. Armstrong spent part of last season on loan there, gaining vital experience and eventually establishing himself in David Moyes' team.
