Kylian Mbappe, the star forward for Real Madrid, has set forth critical financial demands for a contract extension, particularly as Liverpool appears to be weighing up a move for the Frenchman.
Spanish media recently reported that Liverpool representatives have contacted Mbappe’s mother and agent, Fayza Lamari, regarding a potential transfer in 2027. Journalist Francois Galliardo shared on Defensa Central:
Several Premier League clubs are interested in Kylian Mbappe, but the player’s priority is Liverpool. In recent weeks, they have reached out to Fayza Lamari. The player does not feel the love and support in the Real Madrid dressing room, which is causing him some discomfort. The transfer fee is expected to range from €200 to €250 million.
The 27-year-old forward joined Real Madrid as a free agent from PSG in the summer of 2024, and his current contract runs until the summer of 2029.
Journalist Juan Jesus noted that Real Madrid has also issued an ultimatum to Mbappe:
Mbappe’s camp has decided to postpone a planned meeting with Real Madrid regarding a contract extension ahead of the season. The club is well aware that such postponements are never accidental: this is the first ominous signal. For Florentino Perez, this presents a major issue: Mbappe is the centrepiece of his project, and the president can’t bear the thought of him leaving, seeing it as a monumental failure. However, the hierarchy is clear: if he doesn’t agree to a new deal by next summer, he will have to be put up for sale to avoid entering 2028 with just a year left on his contract.
Similarly, journalist Diego Torres Romano revealed the forward’s financial demands: Mbappe is only willing to sign a new deal if it includes a net salary of €60 million per season.
Mbappe dreams of achieving free agent status. However, according to his camp, “Real Madrid will never let him go for free.” He has made his intentions clear: he will only extend his contract with the Madrid side for €60 million net per year. Yet, his priority right now is to secure the freedom to move to the Premier League. If the club does not accommodate him, his stance is equally straightforward: he will professionally honour his existing contract until the end,
