15-Second Brief
An injury crisis and lack of squad depth are forcing Manchester United to enter the January transfer market. The club faces significant personnel issues in defence and attack amid a challenging schedule.

Manchester United rarely makes big moves in January. However, a growing number of injuries may push the club to actively engage in the winter transfer window.

At the end of the summer, the hierarchy attempted to sign Ryan Ait-Noury but failed to close the deal in time. The issue at left-back has remained unresolved, and with the current situation worsening, key players like Luke Shaw, Patrick Dorgu, and Noussair Mazraoui are now dealing with injuries.

The lack of squad depth is also being felt in attack. Benjamin Sesko's chronic shin injury has dealt a serious blow amid the team's Champions League campaign. On the last day of the summer window, United even had to cancel Joshua Zirkzee's move to Everton due to the time constraints in finding a replacement.

Under INEOS's ownership, the club has previously shown a willingness to act in January, having signed Patrick Dorgu and Aiden Heaven in January 2025. It is expected that the Manchester outfit will once again look to bolster their weak positions at the start of the next year.
