Mika Richards has urged Manchester City to chase Julian Alvarez amid Arsenal's interest. The former defender believes the Argentine could significantly boost either team and is confident City should join the race.

Mika Richards believes Manchester City should make a move to reclaim Julio Alvarez and keep Arsenal from signing the Argentine forward. He insists that a transfer of this nature would significantly bolster any title challenger.

The former City defender shared his thoughts:

I think Arsenal need another player in attack. They still have Dykresh, and he shouldn’t be underestimated — he's a Premier League champion. But if they want to assert their dominance, they should sign another forward. They should go for Alvarez. That would be a serious statement of intent.

If I were in Manchester City’s shoes, I would go back in for Alvarez without a doubt.

Alvarez played for City from 2022 to 2024, winning the Premier League twice before moving to Atletico Madrid for £82 million. At the Madrid club, he has scored 49 goals in 107 appearances.

Arsenal is reportedly keen on the 26-year-old striker this summer. Alvarez himself had previously favoured a move to Barcelona; however, Atletico is reluctant to sell to their direct rival in La Liga. The potential transfer fee is estimated at €150 million (£128 million).
