Dwight York is perplexed by Manchester United's significant investment in Carlos Baleba after already securing two other midfielders. The former forward argues the club is too focused on midfield, neglecting crucial defensive issues.

Dwight York has questioned Manchester United's decision to sign Carlos Baleba. The former striker believes the club has put too much emphasis on midfield, while more pressing concerns remain in defence.

This summer, Manchester United reshaped their midfield following Casemiro's departure and Manuel Ugarte's injury. Baleba joined Andre Santos and Youri Tielemans in a midfield makeover after moving from Brighton.

York commented:

Carlos Baleba has moved to Manchester United... It has been a very strange transfer window. United seems to be focusing heavily on midfield, even though we already have enough players in that area.

We shouldn't forget about Ugarte, who is currently injured. I don't quite understand why we've concentrated so much on this position.

The issues in defence are far more apparent, yet we haven't addressed them. Instead, we've signed another young player in Carlos Baleba, who still has a lot to prove.

He has performed well in the past, but from what I understand, we are signing him more for how he played a couple of seasons ago rather than his current form.

This leaves me a bit puzzled. I think we're paying too much attention to midfield while overlooking other problematic positions.
