Oliver Glasner admitted that Nottingham Forest did not perform at their best against Leeds in the second round of the League Cup. Forest were defeated 2-0 at home, which brought their tournament campaign to a premature end.
Both goals came in the second half, with Daniel James and James Justin finding the net.
Glasner conveyed his thoughts:
It was a tough evening and a hard defeat. We have to accept it – that’s the reality of our current situation.
They are ahead of us in their development. We’ve only just begun this process, while they’ve been together for two or three years, consistently adding one, two, or three players each time.
That was evident today: they possess much more stability, while we struggled and made too many errors.
We knew we’d be playing under pressure, but we made far too many wrong decisions. That allowed them to create opportunities and score.
We had two or three good chances, but we failed to capitalise. For me, it’s important to face this reality.
Only we can change the situation. And that’s exactly what we will do.
