Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has reflected on their gritty 2-1 victory over Chelsea. The Gunners found themselves behind just two minutes in, but responded well thanks to Kai Havertz, who levelled the score before Odegaard secured the win after the break.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Odegaard said:
It was a big, very important match against a strong opponent. In the end, we got what we deserved, and that's fantastic.
Our mentality is to keep fighting. We've shown this many times. Of course, we never want to concede so early, but the team's reaction was excellent.
Ultimately, we were rewarded for our efforts. Our response was magnificent. We displayed our quality both with and without the ball, and the result reflects that.
Odegaard also singled out Havertz for praise, highlighting his contribution in both the equaliser and the winning goal.
He added:
He’s a very smart player. Kai moves excellently and attracts a lot of attention from defenders. And the goal was brilliant.
After three matches, Arsenal have accumulated nine points and currently sit in second place in the Premier League, trailing Manchester City on goal difference.
