Jarell Kwanza addressed speculation regarding his potential departure from Bayer amid interest from top clubs, asserting his focus on the current season. The defender is pleased with his progress in Germany and his partnership with Tapsoba.

Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarell Kwanza has opted not to comment on interest from Real Madrid, Arsenal, and his former club Liverpool. The 23-year-old emphasised that he is focused solely on his performances for the current team and is not dwelling on transfer chatter.

I just have to focus on playing this season. I’m playing as many matches as possible and trying to progress. There’s nothing more I can do, — Kwanza was quoted by IMAGO.

It’s worth noting that Jarell made his move to the German club from Liverpool in the summer of 2025 for a fee of €35 million. Since then, he has established himself as a key figure in Bayer’s defence, notably impressing in a new role on the right flank, where he has been more involved in attack.

Kwanza highlighted the importance of cohesion in Bayer's defensive line and specifically praised his partnership with Edmond Tapsoba:

I feel that this year we have a lot of leadership qualities in defence. For example, I’ve played about 50 matches with Eddie Tapsoba, and we’ve built a strong connection.

Although Kwanza is under a long-term contract with Bayer, Liverpool does hold an option to buy him back for €70 million, which is reportedly valid until June 15, 2027.
