Coventry City are monitoring 18-year-old Crvena Zvezda midfielder Vasilije Kostov, who has scored four goals and made two assists in the Serbian league. Birmingham are also interested, but Crvena Zvezda demand €20 million.

Coventry City are weighing up a move for 18-year-old attacking midfielder Vasilije Kostov from Crvena Zvezda. As reported by ontheminute.com, the Championship side is keen on the young star, who has been impressing scouts across Europe.

Sporting director Dean Austin and his team have expanded their scouting network in Europe, aiming to uncover promising players. Kostov is firmly on their radar.

Scouts have been particularly impressed with the Serbian’s composure, his movement between the lines, and his ability to influence games at the senior level.

Kostov has made an explosive start to the season, scoring four goals and providing two assists in just eight matches in Serbia’s top division.

Birmingham also tracking the midfielder

However, Coventry are not the only English club interested in the young talent. Birmingham City are also keeping an eye on Kostov.

Potential suitors will, however, need to match the financial demands of Crvena Zvezda. In January, general director Zvezdan Terzic revealed that the club rejected a €20 million offer for the midfielder.

Terzic has also made it clear that the club is unwilling to sell for any less, insisting that only clubs from the Premier League, German Bundesliga, or Portuguese leagues could afford such a transfer.

Kostov’s contract runs until 2028, giving Crvena Zvezda little pressure to part ways with the player. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value stands at €25 million.

Big clubs across Europe have been showing interest in Kostov

The Serbian’s name has previously been linked with other clubs as well. In March 2026, Arsenal were reported to have made a €20 million bid, which was swiftly rejected by Crvena Zvezda.

In September 2026, rumours surfaced regarding interest from Monaco, along with a proposed offer of €10 million.

Currently, Kostov is already representing the Serbian national team, having played four matches. His progress is drawing attention from clubs beyond Serbia, but the high price tag and Crvena Zvezda's firm stance could complicate any potential transfer.
