Bournemouth goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio might be heading back to Italy this winter, with Bologna keen on bringing the 29-year-old back to Serie A.
Bologna's head coach, Raffaele Palladino, is personally interested in securing Di Gregorio's services, having previously worked with the player at Monza. This familiarity with the goalkeeper's capabilities could prove decisive in any potential negotiations.
At present, Di Gregorio's career in England isn't going as smoothly as hoped. Struggling to find regular minutes at Bournemouth, he has spent much of the season warming the bench, prompting Bologna to explore the possibility of a loan or even a permanent transfer to bolster their goalkeeping options come January.
Palladino's personal preference for Di Gregorio is seen as a key factor in any potential deal. Furthermore, the well-established relationship between Bologna's hierarchy and Juventus, the club that originally holds the player's rights, could facilitate negotiations.
As it stands, no official agreement has been reached between the clubs, and Di Gregorio's future will hinge on the outcome of talks in the coming months.
