Liverpool will keep Gakpo if the Barcola transfer from PSG (£130m+) falls through. Brighton want over £70m for Minta, providing an alternative for the Reds.

Respected insider David Ornstein has revealed key details of Liverpool's transfer strategy in the final week of the window.

The future of 27-year-old Dutch forward Cody Gakpo at Anfield is directly linked to the outcome of talks regarding 23-year-old French winger Bradley Barcola from PSG.

According to Ornstein, Barcola is Liverpool's top transfer priority. If the deal with the Parisians goes ahead, Gakpo will be allowed to move, with Tottenham reportedly showing interest. However, should the Reds fail to reach an agreement with the French champions, manager Andoni Iraola is keen to retain the Netherlands international:

“Liverpool see Barcola as their main priority, there’s no doubt about that. If they can pull him from PSG, I think we will see Gakpo depart. But if they can’t sign the Frenchman, they will be more than happy to keep Cody — he is very much liked by Iraola,” Ornstein emphasised.
