Liverpool are planning to buy Bournemouth's left-back Adrien Truffert for £60 million in 2027. The Frenchman's transfer will lead to Kostas Tsimikas leaving on a free transfer, with Manchester United emerging as the main rivals for the Merseysiders.

Liverpool are weighing up a move for Bournemouth's left-back Adrien Truffert to finally resolve their long-standing issue on the left side of defence. The potential transfer of the 24-year-old Frenchman, estimated at around £60 million, will likely mark the end of the Merseysiders' relationship with Kostas Tsimikas, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the current season.

Before the international break, the team recorded three consecutive clean sheets in the Premier League: Jeremy Jacobs quickly established a solid partnership with Virgil van Dijk in central defence, Ronald Araújo has been a revelation on the right flank, and Alisson Becker remains one of the best goalkeepers in the world. However, the left-back position continues to raise serious questions for the coaching staff. Milos Kerkhez has become the first-choice player following Andy Robertson's departure to Tottenham on a free transfer, but the Hungarian has yet to convince the hierarchy that he is ready to be a long-term starter at Anfield, while Tsimikas has struggled to mount any real competition.

The left flank has been a weak spot for Liverpool for some time: Robertson's decline began during the title-winning 2024/25 season, and Kerkhez had a mixed 2025/26 campaign. As a result, the Merseysiders are looking to the Bournemouth transfer market once again, having previously acquired the Hungarian defender. Truffert was bought by Bournemouth as a direct replacement for Kerkhez, and now both players risk becoming direct competitors at Anfield. The arrival of the Frenchman in the summer of 2027 would signify Tsimikas's departure as a free agent, concluding a seven-year stint for the Greek, who has served as a backup since joining the club in 2020.

The race for Truffert promises to be fierce, with Manchester United also showing significant interest in the player. The Mancunians are planning a major overhaul of their defensive line in 2027, bringing in at least three new signings, with left-back being a top priority. Luke Shaw remains the club's only specialist in that position following Patrick Dorgu's move up the pitch, and United's main target, Lewis Hall, recently committed his future to Newcastle by signing a long-term contract at St. James' Park.
