Bayern are preparing for life after Manuel Neuer, whose contract with the Munich club expires at the end of the 2026/27 season.
For the upcoming season, Neuer will continue as the team's first-choice goalkeeper under Vincent Kompany, with 38-year-old Sven Ulreich stepping in as his backup.
However, Bayern are already looking to the future. According to Football Insider, an unexpected candidate to succeed Neuer could be Newcastle's goalkeeper Nick Pope.
The 34-year-old Englishman is also tied to his current club until the summer of 2027, at which point he would become a free agent. This season, Pope has lost his spot as Newcastle's number one and is open to embracing a new challenge in his career.
A move for Pope could serve as a stopgap solution for Bayern, providing the club with additional time to identify a long-term successor to Neuer.
Currently, the Bavarians do not believe Jonas Urbig possesses the necessary experience to step up as their first-choice goalkeeper immediately following Neuer's departure.
