Defender Maxence Lacrua has acknowledged the disappointment Chelsea felt following their 2-1 defeat at the hands of Arsenal. Yet, the Frenchman believes that the Blues can take valuable lessons from the match and come out stronger.
Lacrua feels that Chelsea performed admirably at the Emirates, showcasing their ability to compete fiercely with the reigning champions on their own turf.
“We are a bit disappointed, of course, after the loss, but I think we played well, to be honest,” Lacrua stated.
“We just need to adjust a few things. I think it's tough to play there, but we coped well.”
“We accept the defeat, but we want to learn from it. I think it’s useful to learn from mistakes and all the wrong things. We must move forward and try again,” he added.
The Frenchman is adamant that Chelsea deserved more from this London derby, particularly after creating several promising attacking chances.
“I believe it was a good start, but once they scored, it became increasingly tough. However, we showed that we had good spells and good attacks, so the defeat stings a bit. We gave it our all,” he said.
“I think we deserved more. Luck wasn’t on our side, but we have to accept that. The desire to score and our mentality were clear. We showed good character right until the end. We deserved a 2-2 draw, but we'll take this lesson into the next game,” he added.
