Manchester City defender Josko Gvardiol has opened up about the tactical changes being introduced into the team's defensive structure under new head coach Enzo Marresca. Gvardiol highlighted that the coaching staff is integrating principles that Marresca successfully applied at Chelsea and Leicester, though he acknowledges the players will need time to adjust from their previous playing habits.
The defender emphasised the positive mindset within the squad as they seek to embrace these new demands:
There are certain things they used to do at Chelsea and Leicester. It’s not too difficult, but the issue is that our old habits differ a bit from what he (Enzo Marresca) wants, so it will take time. We are working on this every day in training. I think it’s a great idea, and I’m confident it will definitely work.
