David Silva revealed that Barcelona tried to negotiate for him in 2008, but Valencia refused to sell. In 2010, he joined Manchester City, where he enjoyed ten outstanding years.

David Silva has disclosed that he had a chance to move to Barcelona in 2008, in the aftermath of Spain's success at the European Championship. However, Valencia refused to release the midfielder.

The former Manchester City star recounted that Tixy Begiristain, who was working at the Catalan club during that period, reached out to him.

“In 2008, when we won the European Championship with the national team, Tixy Begiristain called me. At that time, he was with Barcelona. But Valencia were not interested in selling me,” Silva explained.

Financial difficulties eventually forced Valencia to part ways with some of their top players, including Silva and striker David Villa.

Ultimately, in 2010, the midfielder made the switch to Manchester City. Silva reflects fondly on his time there, calling the decision a sound one.

“It was the best decision to move to City. I spent ten amazing years there, and the people treated me incredibly well,” he remarked.

Silva also noted that Real Madrid had shown interest, but after returning from the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, his sights were firmly set on Manchester.

According to the Spaniard, then-manager Roberto Mancini began to reach out to him regularly from November onwards, showing keen interest in bringing him on board.

During his time at Manchester City, Silva became a pivotal player, helping the club secure four Premier League titles and several other domestic trophies. His move in 2010 marked the beginning of one of the most successful eras in the club's history.
